On Monday, GQ Magazine announced who would receive their ‘Citizen Of The Year’ award with the individual posing on the magazine cover. It is rather shocking that GQ would step up and give this acknowledgement to him after the controversy surrounding him and his actions.Former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick has been awarded its ‘Citizen of the Year’ award, posting his photo on the cover and praising the protesting player for “taking a knee” to fight “police brutality,” reports Fox News.
The article, titled “Colin Kaepernick Will Not Be Silenced” applauds the kneeling quarterback, sayings, “He’s been vilified by millions and locked out of the NFL.”
“He’s been vilified by millions and locked out of the NFL—all because he took a knee to protest police brutality. But Colin Kaepernick’s determined stand puts him in rare company in sports history: Muhammad Ali, Jackie Robinson—athletes who risked everything to make a difference,” writes the author.
